Coaching Group Vision

The vision of the coaching group is to create an environment for players, officials, friends and family of the club that;

  • Is positive and empowers players to have input and feedback to influence their success
  • Creates opportunities to learn quickly and frequently and develop fast effective problem solving skills
  • Challenges players to think and use all tools available (skills and strategies) to be successful
  • Recognises the importance of physical preparation and development through tailored strength and conditioning based on up to date research
  • Can show a clear pathway for players to reach their full potential
  • Is transparent about expectations and decisions

The Greater Geelong region is undoubtedly one of the best in Australia for producing elite level players. The region has strong junior associations and connections to arguably the strongest football netball competition in Victoria in the GFL. The Geelong Cougars has worked hard to develop a program that can provide the pathway to elite netball for Geelong region athletes without having to leave Geelong. Through this strategy the club has continued to improve year after year; winning back to back Under 19 Division premierships (2016 and 2017, notable runner up in 2015), Division One premiership in 2017 and Championship division cracking the finals to finish 3rd in 2017 for the first time in VNL history.

Player input and engagement is paramount to the continuous improvement and evolution of the club and the program. Players believe the Geelong Cougars has the environment, administration, officials and program for them to be their best and achieve success. Winning outcomes are a result of all the contributions and actions of all members of our teams and club. In 2018, we aim for players and officials to get to their best across all aspects of their development to achieve success.
